Getting Ready for Spring RV

Spring is just beginning, so it’s time to start getting your RV ready for the upcoming camping season! After being locked away in storage all winter, there are some key preparations you should make before hitting the road. You will need to make sure your RV is not suffering from any damage caused by the freezing winter conditions, and conduct a few different checks before setting off on your spring journeys.

Here are the main steps you should follow to ensure your RV is in top shape for spring:

  • De-winterize your RV: If you winterized your RV before storing it over the winter, your first step is to de-winterize it! You’ll need to flush out the antifreeze and sanitize your RV’s water system. You should inspect your RV’s plumbing for any damage that may have occurred during the winter due to freezing temperatures. If your RV passes this stage, you’re one step closer to hitting the road!
  • Check your tires: Before hitting the road, inspect your RV’s tires for any signs of damage or wear. You should also check the tire pressure and inflate them to the recommended level. Don’t forget to examine your spare tire too.
  • Test your appliances: Check all of your RV’s appliances, including the refrigerator, stove, and oven, to make sure they are working properly. You don’t want to set up at a campsite only to find you can’t cook anything!
  • Clean your RV: Spring is the perfect time to give your RV a deep clean. This includes washing the exterior, cleaning the interior, and decluttering. It’s recommended to check for any signs of pests that may have taken up residence in your RV during the winter.
  • Check your batteries: Inspect your RV’s batteries and make sure they are fully charged. If your RV has been in storage for an extended period, you may need to replace the batteries altogether.
  • Check your brakes: Inspect your RV’s brakes and make sure they are in good condition. If you notice any signs of wear or damage, take your RV to a mechanic for inspection.
  • Check your propane system: If your RV uses propane, check the system for leaks and make sure it’s in working condition.
  • Pack the essentials: Before hitting the road, make sure you have all the essentials you need for your trip. This includes bedding, towels, cookware, and any other camping gear you’ll need.

By following these key preparations, you’ll be well on your way to an enjoyable and safe spring RV season. Don’t forget to make reservations at your favorite campsites already, as spots tend to fill up quickly during peak season.
